    New Lunch Item to Debut on March 17!

    After students taste-tested and voted, the will make its first appearance on the school lunch menu on March 17. Students gave the entree two thumbs up and described it as a grilled cheese sandwich without the crust!

    Please Consider Donating to the Food Drive to Assist the Hudson Area Backpack Program.

    The Hudson Area Backpack Program is designed to help feed hungry children in the Hudson community. The program serves all private and public elementary schools and the middle school, or approximately 165 families. The Backpack Program relies on generous donations from local business and community groups. To best utilize funds, the Backpack Program works with Second Hand Harvest to purchase food at a deeply discounted price. 

    Over the next month, Second Hand Harvest will be moving locations so their resources will not be available to the Backpack Program. Willow River Elementary is partnering with the Backpack Program to conduct a Food Drive to collect individually wrapped snacks to help reduce the costs to purchase food for the program over the next month. 

    A Food Collection Box will be located in the school entry, labeled “Hudson Area Backpack Program,” for granola bars, gelatin cups, pudding cups, cereal bars, instant oatmeal packets, fruit snacks, individually wrapped cracker snacks, etc. Thank you for helping make this Food Drive a success!

    Registration for the 2020-2021 School Year is Now Open!

    The Hudson School District requires annual registration for its students, which can be completed online through Skyward Family Access. Navigate to the registration portal by logging into Family Access – the site is linked on the Hudson Raiders.org homepage. If you don’t remember your credentials, use the Forgot Your Login/Password?     Young Authors Day Volunteers Needed!

    The Young Authors Day team is looking for volunteers to help with this year’s Young Authors Day on May 15th. Volunteers will facilitate mixed-age, small groups of 6-7 students from approximately 1:30-3:00 p.m. on this day. The small groups allow each student a chance to share his/her book they’ve written and illustrated especially for this day. Volunteers will be provided with instructions and more details, prior to the day. to volunteer!

    Still Experiencing Fee Pay Issues?

    If you are trying to replenish your child’s meal account and are still experiencing issues with Fee Pay, please bring a check/cash to deposit at the school (or send payment with your child). There is a Lunch Money Deposit Box located just outside the school office. Thanks!

    Cold Weather Clothing Guidelines

    Our students will have recess daily with the exception of extreme weather conditions such as rain or cold/wind chill temperatures. 

    • 0 degrees F or below = Indoor Recess
    • Wind Chill -10 degrees F or lower = Indoor Recess
    • Wind Chill between 0 degrees and -10 degrees = Outdoor Recess

    Recess may be shortened or cancelled by the principal based on local weather.

    Please consider these weather factors as you and your child make your daily decisions on winter clothing. Coats, snow pants, hats, scarves, boots and mittens or gloves are necessary. Most playground games are played in the snow.

    Communicating Student Absences

    Please call the Attendance Line (715-377-3882) if your child will be absent or arriving late to school. Hudson’s elementary schools do not have online attendance reporting. 

    • You must call the Attendance Line each day your child is absent, unless you have submitted a
    • Please send a written note with your child when they return to school.
    • The Family Vacation Form should be turned in to the school office no later than one week prior to your child’s absence.
    • A child will be recorded as absent a half day if he/she arrives at school after 10:00 AM or leaves prior to 2:00 PM.
